How to Register Your Trademark?

Once you have accumulated all the necessary documents, you can begin your trademark registration process in Pune. This entire process involves the following 4 processes:

  1. Mark identification:

The first step towards registration is to identify your mark. Now, while you are doing that, keep in mind to follow through some generic principles like the mark should be unique, should be ethical, should not contain superlatives and should be relevant. There are more rules and regulations as explained in the Trademark act of 1999. However, you need not be bothered about that until the next step.

  1. Availability check:

Once you have set your mind on a symbol, it is time to check whether it is available or not. This can be done either online or offline. Through this process, it is checked if the trademark is available. The trademark agent will assist you with that. If there are any issues, then there would be redesigning of the symbol until all the kinks are worked out and the symbol is truly unique.

  1. Vienna Codification:

During the codification process, your mark would be classified among 45 different classes. Once your mark is classified, you can use the “Tm” symbol along with your logo.

  1. The final scrutiny:

This final step involves a lot of scrutiny from the side of the trademark officer, who rechecks the application to for errors. If there are none, the mark is published in the trademark journal for a period of 3 to 4 months. If there are no objections during this time, the trademark gets registered.

The entire process is quite time consuming. However, if there are no errors, you can get your trademark registered fairly soon. Just get in touch with our Registrationwala team to find out more.
