The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Yojana is a Central Government Scheme launched in December 2018. As per the data of the PM Kisan Portal, around 23,36,469 farmers had enrolled in the scheme by June 2023. This scheme aims to provide financial assistance to farmers across the country, but there is a criterion that must be fulfilled. Every year Rs. 6,000/- is sent directly into the Aadhaar Seeded bank accounts in three equal installments of Rs. 2000/-. 

 

The latest 15th instalment of PM Kisan will released between November 2023 and December 2023. However, the official date has yet to be announced. What is the PM Kisan Scheme?

PM Kisan is a Central Sector scheme with 100% funding from the Government of India. The scheme came into effect on December 1st, 2018. Under the scheme an income support of 6,000/- per year in three equal installments will be provided to all land-holding farmer families. There are many welfare schemes launched by the government for the benefit of people in the different categories. Similarly, this scheme aims to provide financial assistance to farmers.

 

The definition of family for the scheme is husband, wife and minor children. The State Government and UT administration will identify the farmer families which are eligible for support as per scheme guidelines. The fund will be directly transferred to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. There are various Exclusion Categories for the scheme.

Who is Eligible for the PM Kisan Scheme?

All landholding farmers' families, which have cultivable landholding in their names are eligible to get benefits under the scheme. In the landholder farmer’s family, the husband, wife and minor children who own the cultivable land will be included as per the land records of the concerned State and UT. However, the existing land-ownership system will be used for the identification of the beneficiaries for the calculation of benefits.

How to Check PM Kisan Beneficiary Status?

Many farmers have registered for this scheme and the Government of India has released a budget of 20,900 crore rupees. 

Step 1: Visit the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi website and choose the option ‘Know Your Status’.

Step 2: Enter Registration No. and Captcha and click on ‘Get Data’. The PM Kisan beneficiary status of your registration for the PM Kisan Scheme will appear on the screen.

Step 3: In case you forgot your registration number then click on ‘Know your registration no.’ A new window will appear and there are two options to check the PM kisan gov in beneficiary status. By Aadhaar number or mobile number, choose the option and enter the details. Fill the captcha and click on ‘Get Mobile OTP’.

Step 4: Lastly, an OTP will sent on your number fill it and your registration number will appear on the screen.

How to Check the Beneficiary List on the Website?

  1. Visit PM Kisan's official portal and from the home page choose the option beneficiary list. Click on the option and a new page will appear.
  2. On this page fill in your details such as State, District, Sub-District, Block and Village. After filling in all the details, click on “Get Report”. The report will appear with the name of the farmer and the gender.

The beneficiary can check his/her name in the list. In case, you didn’t find your name in the list, once check the details of your location that you filled in. Even if you didn’t find your name on the list, contact the nodal officers and send mail to the authorities.

Q. Can I apply for the PM Kisan Scheme without an Aadhaar Card?

A. No, having an Aadhaar card is mandatory for the purpose of e-KYC in which the bank account will be linked directly to the Aadhaar. So, it will help the government to transfer the benefits directly to the bank account of the beneficiary.

Q. Is e-KYC Mandatory for the PM Kisan Registered Farmers?

A. Yes, the e-KYC is mandatory for farmers who are looking for the benefits of the scheme. To make this process easy the government provide an option for OTP-based e-KYC on the portal or you can visit the nearest CSC centres for biometric-based eKYC.

Q. How are the monetary benefits under the scheme sent to the beneficiary accounts?

A. Yes, the financial benefits will sent directly to the bank account of the beneficiary.

Q. What is the period of payment in the PM Kisan scheme?

A. The benefit to the beneficiaries is provided in three installments of Rs. 2000 each. The first is in between April-July, the second is in between August-November and the third is in December-March.

Q. Are the benefits of the scheme admissible to only Small and Marginal Farmer's families? 

A. No, according to the guidelines of the scheme when launched on February 24th, 2019 it was only admissible to Small and Marginal Farmers with a combined landholding upto 2 hectares. The scheme was revised on June 1st, 2019 and extends the guidelines to all the farmer families irrespective of the size.
