What is APEDA?

Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) is a licensing authority which was established after the enactment of Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority Act, 1985. Registration Exporters who are involved in export of agricultural and scheduled products must be registered or licensed by APEDA as part of compliance with the legislation. APEDA is a part of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Who is required to have APEDA license registration?

APEDA Act, 1985 states that all the individuals and business entities that are involved in the export of one or more scheduled products need to get registered with APEDA. APEDA registration must get renewed before the expiry of one month from the date on which the individual or business entity began to take part in such exports or before the expiry of three months from the date on which this act had been enforced, whichever is later. To avail APEDA license registration, a person must register themselves as a merchant exporter or a manufacturer.

Here are lists of the scheduled products which are specified under the APEDA act: 

FIRST SCHEDULE

1. Fruits, vegetables and their products,
2. Meat and meat products,
3. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages,
4. Cereals and Cereal products,
5. Groundnuts, peanuts and walnuts,
6. Pickles, chutneys and papads,
7. Guar Gum,
8. Floriculture and floriculture products,
9. Poultry and poultry products,
10. Dairy products,
11. Confectionary, biscuits and bakery products,
12. Honey, jaggery and sugar products,
13. Cocoa and all its products including chocolates of all kinds,
14. Herbal and medicinal plants.

THE SECOND SCHEDULE

1.  Basmati Rice

What is APEDA Modification?
