The Government of India has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with a total of 23 countries to share and cooperate on India Stack and Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI). These agreements with other nations focus on the replication and adoption of India's digital governance platforms. They focus on areas namely digital identity, digital payments, data exchange and service delivery platforms.
This initiative is in alignment with India's broader DPI diplomacy under India Stack framework. For the complete list of the countries with which these MoUs have been signed, refer to Annexure I. Now, the Unified Payments Interface has become operational in over eight countries, i.e., the UAE, Singapore, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, France, Mauritius and Qatar.
This expansion places India’s position as a global leader when it comes to digital payments. The increasing international adoption of UPI is enhancing remittances. It is also promoting financial inclusion as well as strengthening India’s role within the landscape of global fintech.
Additionally, MoUs have been signed with Cuba, Kenya, the United Arab Emirates and the Lao People's Democratic Republic for implementation of Digilocker. The Government of India is also actively working to share the success of its Digital Public Infrastructure worldwide.
India Stack Global (https://www.indiastack.global/) showcases DPI of India and facilitates its adoption by friendly nations. The platform provides access to 18 key digital solutions. Furthermore, the Global DPI Repository (https://www.dpi.global/) launched during India's G20 Presidency in 2023 serves as a global knowledge platform. India contributes the highest number of DPI solutions available.
Under Annexure-I, the list of countries with which MoU have been signed by India for sharing or cooperation on India Stack / Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) are as follows:
