On 22 January 2026, at the India International Conference on Democracy and Election Management (IICDEM) 2026, the Election Commission of India (ECI) launched ECINET, which is the commission’s one-stop digital platform for all election-related information and services. The IICDEM is a 3-day Conference (from January 21-23, 2026) that is being held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

The Chief Election Commissioner of India, Shri Gyanesh Kumar, had envisaged ECINET along with Election Commissioners (EC) Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi, and its development was announced in May, 2025. While speaking at the launch, Shri. Gyanesh Kumar said that the ECINET has been developed in strict accordance with the law and is available in a total of 22 scheduled languages and English.

He invited electoral management bodies (EMBs) from around the world to collaborate with India on creating similar digital platforms tailored to their countries' laws and languages. Election Commissioner Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu described ECINET as an excellent tool for enhancing trust in EMBs.

He emphasized that it promotes greater transparency, allows for efficient monitoring of all functions and helps in quick decision-making and information dissemination. Election Commissioner Dr. Vivek Joshi mentioned that the conference would provide EMBs with the opportunity to learn from global best practices in adopting technology and digital innovations.

During her presentation, Director General of Information Technology, Dr. Seema Khanna, highlighted that cybersecurity is a key pillar of ECINET. She noted that technology is no longer just a support function. Rather, it has become a strategic enabler. Dr. Khanna added that ECINET improves transparency, efficiency, credibility and public trust in elections.

ECINET is the world’s largest electoral service platform that consolidates all electoral services of the world’s largest democracy into one seamless experience by integrating over 40 apps and portals from the Election Commission of India. The platform has been developed while ensuring full compliance with the Constitution of India, the Representation of the People Acts of 1950 and 1951, the Registration of Electors Rules of 1960, and the Conduct of Election Rules of 1961.

The ECINET platform connects citizens, candidates, election officials and political parties. It brings onto one secure platform a wide range of services like voter registration, electoral roll search, Track Your Application, Know Your Candidate, Connect with Election Officials, Book-a-call with BLO, e-EPIC download, polling trends, grievance redressal, amongst others, onto one secure platform.

The platform’s beta version was successfully piloted at the time of 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). It helped the Election Commission to deliver enhanced citizen-centric electoral services and make available all election-related information at the click of a button. Suggestions were sought from citizens before giving final shape to the platform ahead of the launch.

Over 10 cr registration forms have been processed since the ECINET beta release, with an average of 2.7 lakh forms per day. On the platform, more than 11 lakh Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have registered. Over 150 crore documents have been digitized through this platform during SIR to date. ECINET also provides a seamless mechanism that helps to monitor the functionaries at the ground level.
