The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority, abbreviated as APEDA, operating under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, participated in IndusFood 2026 - Asia's premier Food & Beverage trade show.

During this show, the Authority organized the BHARATI Startup Challenge to encourage innovation as well as entrepreneurship in the agricultural and processed food export sector of India. The aim of this initiative is to support the export-ready startups by giving them mentorship, market access and policy facilitation.

The selected startups from the challenge will gain international exposure by participating in Gulfood in Dubai and BIOFACH in Germany. It will allow them to explore global market opportunities as well as strengthen India’s agri export ecosystem.

Another key highlight of APEDA’s participation at the trade show was BHARATI Startup Zone. It featured over 100 exhibitors who showcased innovative agri startups. These startups are working in critical areas such as value addition, agri-technology, processing, packaging, logistics, traceability and sustainable export solutions.

The Zone demonstrated APEDA’s commitment when it comes to nurturing innovation and helping startups become integral contributors to India’s agri-export growth story. Additionally, it showed how entrepreneurship and technology-led solutions are making the agriculture sector stronger and supporting MSMEs, empowering farmers and enhancing the nation’s presence in international markets.

For highlighting export ready agri and processed food products, quality assurance mechanisms, traceability initiatives, GI tagged products and sustainable practices, the APEDA pavilion served as a vibrant platform.

This pavilion brought together startups, farmer producer organizations, global buyers and exporters together. It resulted in meaningful interactions and business opportunities across the agri export value chain.

Shri Chirag Paswan, Union Minister of Food Processing Industries, inaugurated the event, in the presence of senior government officials, industry leaders and stakeholders within the agri export ecosystem. The participation of APEDA at the IndusFood 2026 showed the Government of India’s focus on MSME empowerment, startup enablement, ease of doing business and sustainable agricultural exports

It also strengthened collaboration among policy, industry and innovation ecosystems and placed India’s position as a reliable as well as future ready global supplier of agricultural and processed food items.
