In a major development to boost Indian logistics and e-commerce ecosystem, the Department of Posts (DoP) of Ministry of Communications and DTDC Express Limited have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The MoU was formalized on 27 April 2026 at New Delhi.
It was signed by Sh. Neeraj Kumar Jha, General Manager of Parcel Directorate, Department of Posts, and Sh. Abhishek Chakraborty, Chief Executive Officer of DTDC Express Limited. The signing event also saw the presence of senior officials from both the organizations.
The collaboration between DoP and DTDC aims to utilize the vast infrastructure and network of DoP and logistics experience of DTDC so as to significantly improve parcel delivery operations across the country. The MoU indicates a continued partnership between the two parties, which was initiated in 2025.
The key highlights of the MoU inked by the two parties are as follows:-
Aim of MoU:- Exploration and expansion of opportunities in logistics and business operations by allowing DTDC to utilize DoP’s extensive postal network for nationwide parcel delivery, including Cash on Delivery (COD) services.
Heightened cooperation:- The MoU emphasizes collaborative logistics activities, capacity sharing, best practices in the parcel industry and harmonization of marketing strategies to maximize operational efficiency as well as service excellence.
Regular Assessment Mechanisms:- Under the MoU, both the parties shall meet quarterly to review the progress of the partnership, ensure the integration of their systems and identify new opportunities so as to improvise the logistics network.
The MoU will enable DTDC to access unparalleled network of DoP that comprises 1.64 lakh Post Offices across India. The partnership will help DTDC to expand its logistics operations, improve the speed of delivery and meet the growing demands of India’s e-commerce sector, especially when it comes to the remote areas in the country.
The MoU will help DoP to grow its parcel business by enabling faster transmission and delivery services and to expand its network. DoP’s association with DTDC will further strengthen its presence in the logistics space of the country and will contribute towards the vision of India turning into a global logistics hub.
