EPFO to let users access old PF accounts without UAN through E-PRAAPTI portal

The Employee Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) is set to launch a dedicated digital platform known as E-PRAAPTI (EPF Aadhaar-Based Access Portal for Tracking Inoperative Accounts). This platform would facilitate identification, tracking, Universal Account Number (UAN) linking and activation of old EPF accounts. Sh. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Labour and Employment Minister, said that the initiative aims to simplify access to long-forgotten savings and make EPF services more transparent as well as paperless.

He said, “The portal will provide a streamlined Aadhaar-based authentication mechanism that will enable members to securely access their old EPF account, which may not have a UAN linked with it, and initiate the process for updating their member profile, followed by seamless UAN linking and activation.”

The Minister also mentioned that the portal will initially be member ID-based. This would ensure a secure as well as efficient rollout and provide instant benefits to members who already possess member IDs. Moving ahead, it is proposed to expand the scope of the E-PRAAPTI portal to include members who may not be able to remember/access their old member IDs.

Key Features of E-PRAAPTI Portal

The key features of E-PRAAPTI portal are as follows:

  • The portal will leverage Aadhaar-based login and verification.

  • It will track old and inoperative PF accounts.

  • It will activate accounts without UAN requirement.

  • The portal will provide faster access to unclaimed retirement savings.

Steep Rise in Claim Settlement for FY 2025-26

The initiative comes as the EPFO has recorded a steep rise in claim settlements in the financial year 2025-2026. According to official data provided by the government, record-high claim settlements were achieved during this period. This indicates improved efficiency when it comes to processing EPFO withdrawals and benefits. Sh. Mansukh Mandaviya stated, “The EPFO has registered a record level of claim settlements in FY 2025 26, reflecting improved efficiency, faster processing and better service delivery for subscribers.”

According to him, the ongoing reforms and digitization efforts have enhanced the speed, transparency and efficiency of EPF services across India. Further, the officials added that the digital upgrade is a part of the broader initiative to enhance service delivery within the EPFO, reduce reliance on manual processes and make access to retirement savings quicker and more user-friendly for the EPFO members.
