The PM Vishwakarma scheme is a flagship initiative by Government of India. The scheme is aimed at supporting traditional artisans and craftspeople, particularly through three key pillars, namely, (i) Samman, (ii) Samarthya and (iii) Samriddhi. To promote Samriddhi (Prosperity) under the scheme, the Ministry of MSME is implementing One Station One Product (OSOP) initiative. This initiative is specifically meant for Divyangjan Vishwakarma artisans. It involves setting up dedicated retail outlets at selected high-footfall railway stations where such artisans can showcase and sell their products.

The OSOP initiative helps the artisans to expand their market reach by increasing visibility, creating better sales opportunities and providing sustainable livelihoods for them. Through these efforts, the Ministry is fostering economic inclusion, encouraging financial independence for Divyangjan artisans and reinforcing its commitment when it comes to inclusive growth and socio-economic empowerment.

True Stories to Understand the Impact of OSOP Initiative

The impact of the OSOP initiative on Divyangjan artisans has been quite transformative. Here are a few examples of people who have benefitted from this initiative:

  • Story of Shri Atul: Shri Atul is a Divyang sculptor. He specializes in the intricate art of crafting crystal-based statues and utility products. His success story began with his registration under PMV Scheme. The scheme provided him with the necessary skill training he needed so as to innovate and enhance his designs. It allowed him to walk through the competitive landscape. Through OSOP initiative, Shri Atul was granted a dedicated retail outlet at Platform No. 1 of Indore Railway Station. The outlet was inaugurated in January 2026. Since then, it has received a very encouraging response from customers. The outlet sales are increasing at a steady pace.

  • Story of Shri Ajeet Sharma: Shri Ajeet Sharma is a Divyang metalsmith. Like Shri Atul, he is also registered under PMV Scheme. He has opened a retail outlet for his handcrafted metal products near Deoghar Railway Station. He earned Rs. 19,000 within just 15 days of operation of the outlet. Despite facing physical challenges, Ajeet has successfully built a sustainable livelihood. He has done so by showcasing his praiseworthy craftsmanship as well as the dedication he has towards his profession. His journey is a great example that shows how the PMV Scheme empowers Divyangjan artisans to improve their economic status as well as social standing by providing them skill development opportunities as well as market support under OSOP initiative.

  • Story of Shri Ghanshyam Kumawat: Shri Ghanshyam Kumawat is a Divyangjan carpenter who hails from Jaipur, Rajasthan. Like Shri. Ajeet and Shri. Atul, he has also achieved success through his carpentry work with support provided under PMV Scheme. He was allotted a retail outlet near Gandhinagar Railway Station under the scheme. Here, he generated good revenue from his wood products and that too, within just a period of 15 days. Shri Ghanshyam has earned the trust of his customers by delivering high-quality furniture and woodwork to them. It is because of the scheme that he has been able to improve his family’s economic situation.

OSOP Initiative for Divyangjan Artisan’s Economic Empowerment

The OSOP initiative recognizes the unique hurdles that the Divyangjan artisans face in their daily lives. It aims to provide such artisans with resources and opportunities so they can brush up their skills, access the markets and eventually make their lives better.
