To improve self-reliance in villages situated in Madhya Pradesh (MP), the MP government recently approved the Mukhyamantri Vrindavan Gram Yojana. This scheme is a rural development scheme with an objective to transform selected MP villages into model sustainable communities.

It combines traditional values with advanced practices to boost self-reliance as well as environmental sustainability. In addition to this, the State Cabinet also gave sanction to major initiatives in various sectors, including infrastructure, welfare, security and education sectors.

Mukhyamantri Vrindavan Gram Yojana: Brief Analysis

The Mukhyamantri Vrindavan Gram Yojana, an MP-government initiative, focuses on one village per assembly constituency with a minimum population of 2000 and 500 or more cows. Such villages will be transformed into Vrindavan Grams, i.e., model villages that’ll reflect holistic rural development.

The initiative places emphasis on cow rearing, solar energy use, water conservation, rural entrepreneurship and organic farming. In addition, it focuses on cleanliness, spirituality, greenery and financial autonomy.

Facilities under the Scheme

Under the scheme, each and every village will develop certain facilities. These facilities include gaushalas, schools, health centres, solar-powered water supply systems, libraries, biogas plants, cow memorials and veterinary hospitals.

The infrastructure will be improved for villages by introducing internal roads, solar street lighting, public toilets, parks and e-Panchayat services. The goal of the scheme is to create a self-sustaining and well-modernized rural environment.

Job Opportunities

The Mukhyamantri Vrindavan Gram Yojana promotes employment via milk collection centres, craft and skill development centres and small-scale forest produce and agro industries.

To boost self sufficiency, cooperative dairy businesses shall be extended. Agricultural and daily requirements for water shall be met via water conservation methods like well recharge, pond preservation and rainwater harvesting.

Key Focus on Environmental Protection

One of the major focuses of the scheme is on environmental protection. To reduce the use of chemicals, the practice of natural farming will be promoted. To preserve the cultural heritage, religious sites will be maintained.

For additional income sources, the scheme will encourage homestay-based rural tourism. Through efforts for cleanliness, spatial planning and nutrition, the scheme will improve the quality of life.
