Prime Minister of India participates in Bharat Innovates 2026

On 14 June 2026, at the Palais des Expositions, Nice, France, the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi and the President of France H.E. Emmanuel Macron jointly inaugurated the 'Bharat Innovates 2026', which is a three-day event that brings together Indian deep-tech start-ups, innovators, researchers and investors with global innovation funds and footprint. 

Bharat Innovates 2026: Key Points

The key points relating to the Bharat Innovates event are follows:

  • The event showcases India’s leading deep technology on a global stage. It features 120 groundbreaking start-ups as well as over 20 Institutes of Excellence across 13 critical technology pillars of global significance. More than 350 top investors and venture capitalists from around the world are participating at this event. 

  • The gathering at the event was addressed by Prime Minister Modi and President Macron. The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to President Macron for his gracious presence. He noted that, in addressing global challenges, both India and France have been steadfast partners. 

  • He emphasized Indo-French initiatives like International Solar Alliance as well as efforts in the areas of Artificial Intelligence and the promotion of stability and security in the Indo-Pacific region. 

  • In light of ongoing celebration of India-France Year of Innovation, the Prime Minister highlighted that Bharat Innovates event marks another significant milestone in the shared commitment of both countries when it comes to contributing to the global good. The Prime Minister stated that the technological revolution occurring in the digital age offers new opportunities for humanity. 

  • He urged the innovators, investors and entrepreneurs present at the event to develop technologies that are trustworthy, inclusive and centered around human needs. 

  • He emphasized that start-ups should be evaluated not only based on their market valuation but also based on positive impact they have on society. He highlighted that this was the core message of Bharat Innovates 2026 and encouraged the audience to collaborate with India to co-create the next chapter of global innovation.

Prime Minister’s Interaction with Startups and Innovators

The Prime Minister engaged with startups and innovators from various fields like Quantum Computing, Semiconductors, Biotechnology, Defence, Space, Healthcare, MedTech, Advanced Materials and Clean Energy among other sectors. The leaders also attended an exhibition where they interacted with these startups and innovators across the mentioned domains.

List of outcomes: Visit of the Prime Minister to France

PM Shri Narendra Modi's visit to France is being seen as highly fruitful. According to the Press Information Bureau (PIB), the following are the key outcomes of his visit: 

(A) Technology and Innovation, Research and Education

  1. Adoption of India-France Innovation Roadmap 2030
  2. Creation of a Joint India-France AI Working Group focused on AI governance
  3. Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of a National Centre of Excellence for Skilling in Aeronautics and Allied Sectors at NSTI, Kanpur
  4. Expanded possibilities for using India’s real-time payment system – Unified Payments Interface (UPI) – in France
  5. Incubation of an additional 10 Indian startups at Station F.
  6. Establishment of a Centre of Digital Sciences between Department of Science and Technology (DST) and Institut National de Recherche en Sciences et Technologies du Numérique (INRIA)
  7. Establishment of an ICCR India Chair on “AI, Innovation and Culture” at Universite Paris-Saclay
  8. Letter of Intent between Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Health Data Hub of France

(B) Trade, Investment and Supply chains

  1. Setting up of a High-level Mechanism for realizing the goal of doubling bilateral trade in the next five years,  building on the existing Economic and Financial Dialogue
  2. Institution of an Economic Security Dialogue
  3. Declaration of Intent on Cooperation on Railway and High-speed Railway Development in India

(C) Strategic and Space

  1. General Security Agreement on the Exchange and Protection of Classified Information
  2. Letter of Intent between ISRO and CNES concerning cooperation in the field of microgravity research and human space exploration
