UP Government Launches Electricity Bill Relief Scheme 2025

The electricity bill relief scheme, launched by the government of Uttar Pradesh, became effective from 1 December 2025 onwards. The scheme is anticipated to directly benefit the ordinary residents and small electricity consumers by offering them relief from the electricity bills’ burden. 

The UP Electricity Bill Relief Scheme Registration can be done online via www.uppcl.org. Alternatively, individuals can visit the local electricity division office till 28 February 2026. After this date, it will not be possible to obtain benefits of the scheme unless an extension is provided by the government.

The UP government has made a provision regarding 100 percent waiver on interest and surcharge along with a 25 percent discount on the principal amount for the first time. The initiative will provide special benefits to small domestic consumers having connections up to two kilowatts and commercial customers having connections up to one kilowatt.

Dr Ashish Kumar Goel, the Chairman of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation, mentioned in a review meeting that this scheme was introduced by the UP government for settling outstanding bills, taking into account the interests of the general public. The provision of easy installments and the system of automatically adjusting inflated bills on the basis of average consumption will provide genuine financial relief to the electricity consumers. 

The UP Electricity Bill Relief Scheme will serve as a great relief, especially for consumers who were earlier stuck in cases pertaining to authorized use of electricity. Ongoing lawsuits in such cases will also be settled through the scheme. As a result, the affected families will become free from the complex legal procedures.
