On 7 May 2025, in New Delhi, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and Hafele India Pvt Ltd signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The reason for signing MoU was to support and boost the manufacturing and innovation ecosystem of India through empowerment of product entrepreneurs, startups and MSMEs.

The collaboration showcases the shared commitment of DPIIT and Hafele India to build resilient local supply chains and speed up India’s vision of becoming a global manufacturing hub. Through targeted investments, mentorship, and integration into global value chains, Hafele will lead projects that promote entrepreneurship, local sourcing, and product innovation as part of this strategic partnership.

Hafele intends on increasing its assistance to startups and MSMEs. For this, the company will provide market access, supplier growth possibilities, technical cooperation and infrastructure. In addition to extending purchase orders to Indian MSME makers of architectural hardware and furniture fittings, Hafele has already invested more than USD 2.5 million in a company that manufactures appliances in India. Through Startup India, DPIIT will make it easier for startups to connect, participate in programs, and do co-branding.

Regarding the recent partnership, Joint Secretary of DPIIT Shri. Sanjiv said, “The partnership with Häfele India exemplifies our approach of fostering collaborative industrial ecosystems. It brings together global best practices and local entrepreneurial energy to drive sustainable manufacturing growth aligned with the Make in India vision.”

Also, Hafele South Asia’s Managing Director Mr. Frank Schloeder added, “At Häfele, we believe that India’s innovation and manufacturing potential is unmatched. Through this MoU, we are excited to deepen our engagement with Indian entrepreneurs and startups and work together toward the vision of ‘India for India’ today and ‘India for the World’ tomorrow.”

DPIIT Director Dr. Sumeet Jarangal and Mr. Frank Schloeder, Managing Director – South Asia, Hafele India, signed the Memorandum of Understanding in front of senior representatives from both companies. The MoU will remain in force for two years after the date of signing, though there is room for an extension provided that both the parties agree to it.
