After the official grand opening of Startup Mahakumbh on 3 April 2025, Commerce Minister Shri Piyush Goyal visited Bharat Mandapam again on Day 2 to take a tour through the mega exhibition.

Praise for Young Indian Innovators

Addressing the media during his walkthrough, Union Minister Shri Piyush Goyal praised the work of Indian startups. “Having visited the exhibition, the flavor that I got–the taste of innovative work that our young men and women have created through their sheer tenacity, hardwork, spirit of enquiry, research and innovation–is music to one’s ears,” he said.

“You can see the work of world-class quality, experience the technologies created on energy efficiency, powering electronics, see the defence equipment that young startups are creating, and realise how fintech is becoming a source of empowerment for the common citizen…” he added, calling his visit to Startup Mahakumbh “truly an experience of a lifetime.”

The second edition of Startup Mahakumbh showcases ten themed pavilions focused on some of the most dynamic and emerging sectors, including:

During his visit, Shri Piyush Goyal explored several impressive innovations in different areas like climate tech, biotech, and artificial intelligence. These included intelligent air purifiers, electric tractors, AI-powered platforms for brain mapping, and advanced drones designed for defence use.

Each pavilion features specially curated startup booths or pods, giving emerging businesses a chance to present their work to key stakeholders such as angel investors, venture capital firms, corporate incubators, accelerators, government representatives, and global investors. 

With more than three thousand startups, over one thousand investors and incubators, and more than ten thousand delegates from over fifty countries, Startup Mahakumbh offers an incredible platform for startups to pitch their ideas, connect with investors, and secure crucial funding.

The Union Minister emphasized that he was confident that our nation would emerge as a global leader in innovation and technology-led growth. He said, “This is the base–the foundation--on which I am confident, India will foray in a very big way into the world of innovation. We will make our presence felt on the global stage. I go back extremely satisfied with the work done with our young startups. Young India is raring to go. And they are ready to capture the world.”

Launch of India Fintech Foundation

The India Fintech Foundation was launched in the presence of Shri Amitabh Kant, Shri Sanjiv Singh (Joint Secretary, DPIIT), and Shri NS Vishwanathan, former Deputy Governor of the RBI. This new foundation will help build a strong, innovative, and well-managed fintech ecosystem in India.

Govt Engagement and Startup Showcases

Secretary of DPIIT Shri Amardeep Bhatia met with many startups at Startup Mahakumbh. He visited different stalls, including those at the SCO Pavilion, to learn more about the new ideas and products being showcased.

After a successful first edition with over 1,300 exhibitors and 48,000+ visitors, Startup Mahakumbh 2025 has become one of the biggest events for startups in India. In just two days, the second edition welcomed 107,823 visitors, making it a great place for startups, investors, and business leaders to connect and grow.
