Recently, India secured 8th position at WorldSkills Asia Competition 2025. This was a major milestone on the global skills stage for the country. Interestingly, it was the first time India participated in the competition. At the competition, a total of 29 nations participated. India, in its debut against the leading skill ecosystems in the region, demonstrated a remarkable discipline, innovation and international standard excellence across the high demand emerging trades.
The initiative was spearheaded by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), with support from the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and other technical partners involved in training and preparation. The Indian contingent consisted of 23 competitors competing in 21 skill categories and was accompanied and supported by 21 experts.
At the competition, the Indian team showed exceptional performance across traditional as well as tech driven skill categories. India won one Silver medal, two Bronze medals and three Medallions for Excellence. This signals the country's fast expanding footprint when it comes to global skills excellence.

The women competitors at the WorldSkills Asia Competition 2025 emerged as standout performers. They made a major contribution to the medal tally and underscored the rising leadership of the young women within the skilling ecosystem of India. These competitors excelled in non traditional skills and earned the medal for the best in the country by scoring the highest among all Indian participants across various skill categories.
Commenting on India’s achievements, Shri Jayant Chaudhary (Minister of State (I/C) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education) stated, "India’s performance at WorldSkills Asia 2025 reflects the confidence, creativity and discipline of our young talent. Every medal and every recognition earned here is a testament to the hard work of our competitors, the dedication of their trainers and the growing strength of India’s skills ecosystem. As we move towards a more technology driven and globally connected economy, these achievers remind us that skills aren’t just tools of employability. They are instruments of national progress. Congratulations to all our winners and participants for making India proud.”
The achievements of India show the strength of its rigorous talent pipeline. The competitors who participated in the competition were selected via IndiaSkills National Competition 2024. They underwent months and months of rigorous industry led training that was supported by some of the leading academic institutions, Sector Skill Councils and global experts to ensure world class readiness of competitors for the WSAC 2025 stage.
The performance of India at WSAC 2025 establishes a strong precedent for future international competitions. It reinforces the ambition of the country to become a global hub when it comes to skilled talent. As preparations commence for major upcoming global skill events, India’s momentum continues to grow, powered by its youth, supported by a rich training ecosystem and fueled by a national commitment to excellence.
The consistent rise of the country within the global skills competitions directly highlights the effectiveness of nationwide skilling initiatives as well as the increasing aspirations of young professionals. This success also reflects the dedication of trainers, industry partners and Sector Skill Councils who have worked intensively to prepare competitors to meet world class benchmarks.
Hundreds of young competitors were brought together by WSAC 2025. The competition offered a platform to show innovation, future ready capabilities and excellence. The third edition of this prestigious continental competition featured over 500 competitors across 44 skill categories and represented around 29 Asian member and guest countries. It offered participants valuable opportunities for the promotion of local education, economy, tourism and international exchanges.
