The Swachh Survekshan 2024-25 made it easier for smaller cities to compete and move up the swachhata ladder. Also, this time, it streamlined and improved the framework for larger cities. As per a report, smaller cities were on an equal footing with larger cities. The best-performing cities in each state were named Promising Swachh Shehars in accordance with the "One City, One Award" concept. This honor was given to 34 cities in different States and Union Territories to demonstrate their outstanding advancements in urban cleanliness and sanitation quality.

At the event, Hon’ble President Murmu praised the Ministry for promoting the 3R approach consisting of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. She admired the waste to wealth memento she was presented with. Further, she said, “waste is best” is the mantra and it gives strength to circularity in the economy.” She outlined its role in empowering the country’s youth, creating green jobs, and forming entrepreneurial opportunities, engaging SHGs.

The Hon'ble President said, “I am heartened to see that cities have embraced the principles of a circular economy and swachhata as part of our swabhav and sanskaar.” She applauded cities with less than 1 lakh population who established excellent swachhata standards. She commended how the school interventions, initiatives for source segregation startup and zero waste colonies are making the resolution for Swacch Bharat even more powerful. “The Viksit Bharat of 2047 will be exemplary for the world”, she concluded.
