What is APEDA TraceNet?

APEDA TraceNet is an electronic service managed by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA). Through this portal, the Authority facilitates certification process for stakeholders who are involved in export of organic products from India to other nations.

The portal helps exporters to ensure compliance with standards prescribed under National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP). In this blog post, we shall explain this portal to our readers in detail.

About APEDA TraceNet Portal

TraceNet is an online portal developed and operated by APEDA under the National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP). It aims to streamline India’s entire organic food export supply chain. It helps people and organisations involved in export of organic products from India by helping them complete organic certification process as per NPOP standards. The service keeps records of organic products at different stages. This includes production stage and export stage. Farmers, producer groups, exporters and certification bodies actively use APEDA TraceNet system.

It helps to track where organic products come from and where they ultimately end up. This makes it easier to check product details as well as maintain records for them. To improve the existing system, APEDA introduced TraceNet 2.0, which is an upgraded version of original TraceNet portal. Although this upgraded version was officially announced on 9 January 2025, it became operational more than a year later, i.e., on 11 July 2026.

As mentioned on homepage of TraceNet APEDA gov in, APEDA looks after the working of the TraceNet portal but it is not responsible for incorrect or incomplete information entered by users. The responsibility for checking that the information is correct and that certificates are genuine lies with operators, producer groups and approved certification bodies. If wrong information leads to any problem or business loss, APEDA is not responsible for it.
