Once NEET examination results are declared, they are shared with designated government authorities, such as Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), which allocate seats to eligible candidates based on their rank, category and preferences.
The NEET exam pattern follows a multiple choice question format for both undergraduate (NEET UG) and postgraduate (NEET PG) admissions. NEET UG consists of 180 multiple choice questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology while NEET PG includes 180 multiple-choice questions from 19 pre-clinical, para-clinical and clinical subjects covered during MBBS course.
Both exams follow the same marking scheme. Each correct answer earns 4 marks, each incorrect answer results in a deduction of 1 mark and unanswered questions receive 0 marks.
