Documents Required for Securing UID

To apply for a UIN i.e., Aadhaar Number, you need to provide documents at the aadhaar enrolment centre in three categories:

  • Proof of Identity (POI)

  • Proof of Address (POA)

  • Proof of Date of Birth (DOB)

You don’t need to submit all documents, just one from each relevant category is enough. Below are examples of documents that are commonly accepted:

Proof of Identity (POI)

  • PAN Card

  • Passport

  • Voter ID card

  • Driving license

  • Government-issued photo ID (Central or State)

  • Ration/PDS card

  • Marksheet with photo

  • Marriage certificate with photo

Proof of Address (POA)

  • Passport

  • Ration card

  • Voter ID card

  • Driving license

  • Electricity, water, telephone, or mobile bill (not older than 3 months)

  • Bank account statement

  • Government-issued photo ID with address

Proof of Date of Birth (DOB)

  • Birth certificate

  • Passport

  • Marksheet or school leaving certificate

  • Government-issued photo ID with DOB

Make sure all documents are valid and clearly legible when you submit them at the Aadhaar enrollment center.

How to Secure UID Number?

To secure UID number, follow the below-mentioned steps:

Step 1: Go to the UIDAI website and locate the nearest Aadhaar enrolment centre.

Step 2: Fill out the enrolment form with your personal details.

Step 3: Submit the required documents and provide your biometric data (fingerprints, iris scan and photograph).

Step 4: Collect the acknowledgement slip after completing the process. It will have your enrollment ID for future tracking.

Step 5: Your Aadhaar card will be delivered to your registered address by post. Once you receive it, you’ll find your unique 12-digit Aadhaar/UID no. printed on the card.
