We all know the importance of having an Aadhaar Card. It is a universal identity accepted across the entire country. Whether you want to rent a place or buy a vehicle, it is a basic requirement to own an Aadhaar Card.

In 2018, Blue Aadhaar Card or Baal Aadhaar Card was introduced as an identification document issued to children under the age of 5. It does not record any biometric information as opposed to the regular Aadhaar card. The Aadhaar Card for the children is termed as blue aadhaar card owing to its blue color, as opposed to the white rectangular card which is issued to the adults.

Blue Aadhaar Card: Definition

The Blue Aadhaar Card is a specialized form of Aadhaar Card for the children below 5 years of age. It is also known as Baal Aadhaar Card. It has the same purpose as that of a regular Aadhaar Card but it does not require any biometric information from the child. This is due to the fact that collecting biometric data from young children is not only challenging but can also be pretty unreliable. Instead of biometric information, the UID (Unique Identification Number) is generated. UID is based on their demographic information and a photograph of one of their parents/guardians.
